Nestling at the foot of Hambledon hill is the village of Child Okeford, the only village in Britain with the pre fix “Child”. Legend has it that this refers to the Christ Child who visited the hill with his uncle Joseph of Arramathea who came to Britain to trade tin in Cornwall. The most popular retelling of this journey has them stopping off at Glastonbury Tor.
Whilst not being a believer I find such stories intriuging so the barbed wire coil through which the hill is viewed becomes like a crown of thorns and the butterfly emerging from a chryslis a resurrection.
